Shia LaBeouf is still affected by the car accident he was in last July which left his hand broken in several places. The producers of Transformers 2 were able to write his injury into the script so Shia wouldn’t have to take time off to heal, but that’s not the case with his upcoming movie.

Shia was scheduled to start shooting the film Dark Fields this fall, but had to postpone it due to hand surgery. And now he’s decided to pull out of the film altogether. He’ll be forced to undergo surgery again to treat the area around his thumb.

Fox News reports that Shia has just pulled out, leaving producers having to search for another leading man. A source says, A source says, "Shia’s hand is totally shattered, it’s much worse than anyone thought."

Maybe Shia just decided he didn’t like the script after all! That hand excuse comes in handy!

Michael Bay, the director of this classic franchise movie, is known for releasing his high budget blockbuster films in the summer, when the money comes rolling in. IGN took this excellent photo of the release date event where the first trailer was featured - and you can even watch an exlusive clip of Bumblebee in the upcoming flim.

However, lead actor Shia LaBeouf, who plays protagonist Sam Witwicky, severely injured his hand in a car accident this summer. His injury had to be written into the script so the production could keep going, which was done by having his character injured in the movie's storyline as well. Thankfully, the film production wasn't halted - it only needed to be reworked because of Shia's hand injury. He is now preparing for his second surgery, which is needed to fully repair his thumb.

The 22 year old actor has been playing iconic roles consistently well and he has a good sense of knowing what scripts will make it big in the box office. However, It is no laughing matter because the damage has been observed to be large enough to hurt Shia's rising career. It caused him to drop out of his acting role in Dark Fields, a thriller adaptation of a 2002 novel written by Alan Glynn, which is set to be released in 2010. Medical technology is very advanced so it is likely LeBeouf will make a full recovery. It may keep him from acting temporarily but he has a high profile movie coming out in theaters next summer - Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. The film will not only attract the hardcore fans of the Transformers series but also people who grew up during the 1980s and new fans that saw it for the first time on the big screen last year.

now i'm not going to say what's going on in the issue. also you see that screamer has a bit of a new paint job. i won't be commenting on that, so please don't ask about that, you'll just have to wait and find out.

it was a fun cover to do, but also a pain in the ass at the same time.
i enjoy the way it turned out in the end. it did make me feel sorry for josh when i finished it, since it had a lot going on.
this book will be out sometime in january if any are interested.

• Shia LaBeouf plays Sam Witwicky, the teenager who killed Megatron. He attends an East Coast college to learn astronomy.^[47] On July 27, 2008, LaBeouf was involved in a car crash and had to undergo hand surgery. The character getting burned in the story was an unrelated decision. LaBeouf said production was only delayed by two days after his accident because Bay made up for it by filming second unit scenes, and he recovered from the accident a few weeks earlier than expected, allowing him to return to the set. Bay had suggested the hand injury will be written into the story, but Orci said on-set rewrites were done to protect his hand for the remainder of the shoot. Towards the end of filming though, LaBeouf injured his eye when he hit a prop, which required seven stitches. He resumed filming two hours later.

• Megan Fox plays Mikaela Banes, Sam's girlfriend, who cannot afford to attend college with him. Fox had lost a lot of weight for her role in Jennifer's Body, and had to gain ten pounds within three weeks. She explained "Michael [Bay] doesn't like skinny girls."

• Josh Duhamel plays Captain William Lennox, an ally of the Autobots. Since the first film Lennox has become part of an international taskforce battling Decepticons with the Autobots.

• Tyrese Gibson plays Robert Epps, an ally of the Autobots and member of Lennox's team. He has been promoted to the position of Master Sergeant.

• John Turturro plays Reggie Simmons, former agent of the terminated Sector 7 unit, which monitored Transformer activity on Earth.

• Matthew Marsden plays Graham, a member of the United Kingdom Special Forces who joins Lennox's team. Marsden grew up reading the comic book and loved the first film. Bay was impressed with his audition and decided to increase the character's screentime.

• Isabel Lucas plays Alice, a new character who goes to Sam's college.

• Ramon Rodriguez plays Leo.

• Steve Tom has a "principal" role, according to his website.

• Kevin Dunn and Julie White play Ron and Judy, Sam's parents. Orci wrote, "Love them! Gotta have them back." He confirmed they learned the truth about the Transformers while off-screen in the last film.

Rainn Wilson cameos as a university professor, while Kym Whitley has an unnamed part. Bay wanted Amaury Nolasco to return as soldier Jorge Figueroa, who was wounded by Scorponok in the first film, but Nolasco was not able to participate due to schedule conflicts (he may appear in a third film).

'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Possibly Had a Reshoot, Words on Trailer

Two interesting tidbits have come out from "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen". In an updated news about the sequel to "Transformers", Transformers Live Action Movie Blog reported that a potential reshoot of the action fantasy film may be done, and the trailer could be coming out along with "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

On the reshoot rumor, Transformers Live Action Movie Blog noted that their source KevKev has found an article about the possible reshoot in the November 28 edition of The Antelope Valley Press. Parts of the article read, "The Autobots and the Decepticons rolled out to the Antelope Valley last week, returning to Edwards Air Force Base."

"A production crew for the sequel "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was spotted Nov. 19 at the base, and appeared to be settling in for the remainder of the week. No other details were available as of press time," the article continued. More on the article can be read via Transformers Live Action Movie Blog.

Meanwhile, about the possible release date of the film's trailer, Transformers Live Action Movie Blog mentioned that their other source, Cody, reported that the trailer has been finished "about a month ago". Cody, in addition, also revealed someone involved with the movie has informed him that "they are 90% sure" the trailer will make its debut with "The Day the Earth Stood Still" which comes out in U.S. theaters on December 12.

Starring once again Shia LaBeouf as Sam, the human friend of the friendly alien robots Autobots, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" comes from director Michael Bay and the screenwriting team of Ehren Kruger, Alex Kurtzman and Orci. It follows the story about two clashing robot clans on Earth. This time, the heroes will be facing a stronger and more powerful villain, the Fallen, which forces them to bring back their fallen foe, Megatron.

The DreamWorks SKG film will also see Megan Fox reprising her role as Mikaela Banes, Josh Duhamel as Captain William Lennox, Tyrese Gibson as Robert Epps and John Turturro as Reggie Simmons among others. It is due to be released in U.S. theaters on June 26, 2009.

Images of possible new figures from the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie have been circulating around the net.

From Tformers.com: Thanks to EasyNet, we have images of what a TaoBao auctioneer claims is Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Knock Out and Dirt Boss with alternates of a motorcycle and forklift, respectively. Knock Off is just a gray prototype at this point, but Dirt Boss is a bright, lime green-colored figure.

From TF08: We have posted more new images of what is being called a new Revenge of the Fallen action figure mold. This one’s form has a delivery truck appearence to it. It is difficult to discern the class. We can see from the images it has a very simple shell-former type robot mode.

Filming began in Los Angeles, California in May 2008. From June 2, three days were spent on an action sequence at the Bethlehem Steel site in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which was used to represent a portion of a fictional Chinese city. Afterwards, they shot at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The crew moved to Philadelphia on June 9, where they shot at the Exelon plants in Delaware; the University of Pennsylvania; the Eastern State Penitentiary; Fairmount Park; Rittenhouse Square (which represents Paris); and Wanamaker's.^[32][33][34] They moved to Princeton University on June 22. Filming there angered some students at the University of Pennsylvania, believing Bay had chosen to reshoot scenes at Princeton, the school's historical rival, and script Princeton's name in the movie. However, neither the University of Pennsylvania nor Princeton gave Bay permission to be named in the film because of a "funny 'mom' scene" that both felt "did not represent the school". Around $5 million was spent during filming in Philadelphia, Bethlehem, and New Jersey.

Bay scheduled a break for filming beginning on June 30, turning his attention to animation and second unit scenes because of the potential 2008 Screen Actors Guild strike. Orci joked "Optimus and company are also the stars, and fortunately for us, they are not part of a union!" Shooting for the Chinese battle later continued in Long Beach, California. The crew shot at Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico during September. The two locations were used for Qatar in the first film, and stood in for Egypt in this film. To stage an action scene at White Sands, the buildings built on the sand had explosives rigged inside of them, and six F-16s were flown over the area.

Shooting at Tucson International Airport and the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group's aircraft boneyard took place in October under the fake working title Prime Directive (a reference to Star Trek). This location was delayed from July. The first unit (including Shia LaBeouf) then shot for a week in Egypt itself, at the Giza pyramid complex and Luxor. For security's sake, the shoot was highly secretive: but according to Lorenzo di Bonaventura, a crew of 150 Americans and "several dozen local Egyptians" ensured a "remarkably smooth" shoot. Filming continued at the Place de la Concorde in Paris, with the second unit taking shots of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. The cast and crew finished on the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis on November 2, 2008.

Transformers 2 Trailer: Not Until February

It looks like we may finally have some clue as to when the first trailer will hit for one of the most anticipated films of 2009: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. It’s looking like at the earliest, we won’t be seeing a trailer until February 1, 2009.

Screen Rant is known for not being the biggest supporter of last year’s summer megahit, Transformers, but I for one am not as negative towards it as most of the SR team. Although the film had its obvious flaws and weaknesses, I enjoyed it overall, especially seeing the second time and onwards.

After my first viewing I was very picky and negative towards the movie but after that, seeing it again allowed me to take it all in and focus on everything rather than the bad parts. That allowed me to look past a few of the issues and I could enjoy the good parts more. And there certainly are some awesome parts – those are the ones that stick out in memory as months go by. And isn’t that was a good flick should do?

It was not the best thing ever, but it had the potential to be. I’d probably give it a 6.5/10 if I had to rate it and it loses a few points for some awful characters and dialogue, among other problems we’ve all gone over before. I don’t get why they put such ridiculous characters in the film when they don’t need to – the selling point is the giant robots, not the secondary actors. But that’s neither here nor there now and it’s time to move forward in anticipation of the sequel.

Back to the story now - Michael “Explosions” Bay took the time to give a little update on his official site and it went something like this:

“Hey everyone. Back from Egypt and Jordan - we had a wonderful shoot over there. I will miss the crew they were an amazing bunch of people and a lot of fun.”

“I’m stuck in the edit room up to my eye balls - also finished producing Friday the 13th and The Unborn - coming out the after the new year. Our trailer for Transformers [2] you have been asking about - First there will be a teaser poster soon after the new year, and the teaser trailer will be out either in the theaters early Feb. or on the Superbowl. Cannot decide yet. I’m going to release some set stills on this site in a few weeks. I’ll keep you informed. Going back to do more selects now from my portable avid that I take home from work. It’s late, see you.”

A little typo here and there, but that’s okay – it’s just a forum. What’s important here are the potential dates for the trailer, which many (like me) are wildly anticipating. Super Bowl XLIII takes place on February 1st so that would make it only 8-9 weeks away which is pretty soon. Bay also mentions it could be in theatres sometime in early February so we’re pretty much assured we’ll be getting the trailer within 2 months.

I can see them doing both and having a full trailer appear attached to some theatrical feature in February and doing a Superbowl spot. This year, Iron Man ran a TV spot during the insanely popular sporting event and it generated a pile of hype.

Wouldn’t it be sweet if they attached it to Fanboys? It would sure increase that movie’s box-office take.

Last month I wrote about Bay finishing up principal photography on Revenge of the Fallen and about some possible spoilers. It could just be misinformation and I really hope it is. If you want to know what I mean and want to be spoiled, check that article out.

Indiana Jones would probably call him a wuss. Actor Shia LaBeouf has been forced to drop out of a new film because of his smashed hand.

LaBeouf was supposed to star in director Neal Burger’s new feature, "Dark Fields." Burger, the man behind "The Illusionist" and "The Lucky Ones," was supposed to start shooting this fall.

But the shoot was postponed because LaBeouf had smashed his hand in a car accident last July. He had hand surgery, according to reports, and the injury was worked into "Transformers 2," which was held up for a month while LaBeouf recuperated.

Burger had signed him for Dark Fields, in which the 21 year old star of "Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was supposed to play a man who stumbles on a one of a kind smart pill. The screenplay, by Leslie Dixon, is based on a novel by Alan Glynn.

But now I’m told that LaBeouf has withdrawn completely, and the search is on for a new leading man. "Shia’s hand is totally shattered, it’s much worse than anyone thought," says a source, indicating the area around the thumb needs more surgery.

So stay tuned, as all the young actors in Hollywood line up to take Shia’s place.

In September 2007, Paramount announced a June 26, 2009 release date for the sequel to Transformers, and Bay began creating animatics of action sequences featuring characters rejected for the first film. This would allow animators to complete sequences if the Directors Guild of America went on strike in July 2008 (which did not happen as the DGA signed a new deal). The director considered making a small project in between Transformers and its sequel, but knew "you have your baby and you don't want someone else to take it". The film was given a larger budget than the first film, which cost $151 million, and some of the action scenes rejected for the original were written into the sequel. Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman originally passed on the sequel because of a busy schedule. The studio began courting other writers in May 2007, but as they were unimpressed with their pitches, they convinced Orci and Kurtzman to return. The studio also signed on Ehren Kruger, as he impressed Bay and Hasbro president Brian Goldner with his knowledge of the Transformers mythology. The writing trio were paid $8 million.

Screenwriting was interrupted by the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, but to avoid production delays the writers spent two weeks writing a treatment, which they handed in the night before the strike began. Bay expanded the outline into a sixty-page scriptment: Orci explained Bay "came up with some really fun gags and a few descriptions of the kind of hardware he will need for production". The three writers spent four months writing the screenplay while "locked" in two hotel rooms by Bay. Kurtzman created the film's title. Before Transformers was released, producer Tom DeSanto said he had come up with "a very cool idea" to introduce the Dinobots and Constructicons, while Bay was interested in an aircraft carrier, which he considered for the first film. Orci claimed they could not justify the Dinobots' choice of form, admitting he was also dismissive of them. During filming though, he became fonder of them because of their popularity with fans. The writers were unable to fit in the aircraft carrier, and left the Triple Changer idea to another film.

The producers expected that with a bigger budget and the special effects worked out, the Transformers would have a larger role. Peter Cullen recalled, "Don Murphy mentioned to me, 'Only because of the tremendous expense to animate Optimus Prime, he'll be in just a certain amount of [the first film].' But he said, 'Next time, if the movie is a success, you're gonna be in it a ton.'" The director hoped to include more close-ups of the robots' faces. Scott Farrar returned as visual effects supervisor, and anticipated moodier use of lighting as well as deeper roles for the Decepticons. He stated that with the bigger deadline, post-production will be a "circus". Hasbro became more involved in the designs of the robots than in the first film. They insisted on keeping the alternate modes of some of the returning characters similar, so people would not have to buy toys of the same characters.
