Transformers: Revenge of the CANDY!

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies Paramount and or Hasbro are already gearing for the Merchandising mania. If the first movie was any indicator, we should be seeing lots of new stuff to come our way this second time around. Like this deal with M&M Mars for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen CANDY!

Thanks to JayPee of the 606studios.com forms, who works in buying and wholesaling and ran across the Transformers Promo and posted images for us to see.

The images show licensed packaging for Transofmers: Revenge of the Fallen M&Ms candies and a Snickers candy bar.

The M&M's are "Strawberried Peanut Butter" flavor. The M&M Twins are shown having their usual good time with various robot parts stuck all over them. According to the package, there this is "7 OF 7." We may be seeing 6 other package variants as well.

The Snickers bar, labeled "Nougabot Bar," said to be a regular Snickers with nougat is yellow. Mmmmmmm, yellow.

More Than Meets the Eye: The Fallen Revealed in Transformers 2 Poster?

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies Paramount has served the web a nice high-res version of the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen teaser poster for us to scrutinize now that Yahoo's 24-hour exclusivity window has shut.

At first I didn't see anything really "new" in the larger version save for more details and mechanical parts. I was going to publish it as a high-res version update and nothing more.

Then I stopped by The Transformers Live Action Movie Blog, one of my favorite resources for Transformers movie news, and noticed they have posted an "enhanced" version revealing the entire head of this mysterious new Transformer character.

Giddy with geek-ticipation, I threw Paramount's version into Photoshop and started tinkering with brightness and contrast. It took less than 15 seconds to remove the black fade and reveal the head. When that happened a theory came to light.

My first reaction to the poster's initial unveiling was this character is The Fallen. He's framed above the tagline "Revenge is Coming" and the name of the movie is "Revenge of The Fallen." Then I thought otherwise and jumped on the Jetfire bandwagon figuring why would Bay and company reveal a mystery character in the first teaser poster?

Now that I've had a good look at the new enhanced high-res poster I'm convinced we are looking at The Fallen. Whether The Fallen and Jetfire are one in the same is inconsequential. This guy is The Fallen and here's the evidence I have to back up this geek driven claim.

Photo #1: (click to enlarge) is the enhanced high-res teaser poster. Each of the next images will refer to this image for comparison.

Photo #2: This is the Decepticon logo. It looks a lot like the head of this character, don't you think? That's the obvious comparison but there may be some relevancy that isn't coincidental.

Photo #3: This is King Tut's sarcophagus. Why include this image? I was intrigued by the horizontal "vents" on either side of the new character's face when first seeing the teaser poster. With the enhanced image above, we can see those vents or ribbing run from above his head right down to his torso. They also bulge around the shoulders and taper at the head... just like King Tut's sarcophagus.

Also take a look below the character's head. The neck/upper chest area is shaped and etched similar to King Tut's beard.

Photo #4: Next we have more from ancient Egypt: heiroglypics. Take a look at these, then look back at the teaser poster at the joint where the horizontal ribbing connects to the head. There are markings there that could easily pass for Egyptian heiroglypics or ancient Decepticon language. Maybe one influenced the other.

Photo #5: This is the cover for the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Movie Prequel: Defiance #1 comic book that ties directly into the film. In what is considered a flashback sequence, Megatron is seen bowing before a shard of "something" with a face engraved into it. Take a close look at that face, then look back at the enhanced teaser poster above.

Photo #6: This the connecting the dots photo. The firs two parts are from The Transformers Live Action Movie Blog comparing the face on the shard to the background image on the toy packaging. I've added this character's face below each so you can compare for yourself.

Now lets connect these clues with some other known facts and see what we come up with.

  • Bay has stated Megatron is not returning in Transformers 2 which opens the door for The Fallen to rise as a new adversary
  • Megatron once worshiped The Fallen
  • The Fallen's head looks like a Decepticon symbol
  • A portion of Revenge of the Fallen is set in Egypt with filming taking place on and around the Pyramids
  • The new character's head resembles an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus
  • He has potential Egyptian/Decepticon markings on him
  • Sam carries knowledge of the Transformers' past and the Decepticons want him *alive* to retrieve this knowledge

Using these clues my theory goes like this: The Fallen character is in fact on the teaser poster. He is the genesis of the Decepticons, not Megatron, and has been buried on Earth for thousands of years under or around the Pyramids at Giza. The Fallen and possibly other Transformers had a hand in constructing the Pyramids as well as influencing Egyptians during their stay (echoes of Stargate).

The knowledge Sam carries is the history of the Decepticons and The Fallen and will lead Starscream, Soundwave and their minions to The Fallen's tomb. When The Fallen is awakened and seeks his "revenge" he may be more than Starscream and gang bargained for.

‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ Action Figure Images Leaked

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies

A whole slew of amazing hi-res photos of Ransack and Depthcharge (both in robot and vehicle modes) have just been posted over at the-arker.com. Click on the images below for direct links to these galleries!

ORIGINAL STORY

Amid the fervor and speculation surrounding the unveiling of the Transformers 2 movie poster, a few additional images have found their way online. Thanks to the efforts of the guys over at tformers.com, fans can now begin clearing shelf space to in preparation for Hasbro’s upcoming action figure line from the film. Unofficial images have surfaced of Sideswipe (in robot and vehicle mode), Depthcharge (robot mode) and Ransack (robot mode).

It appears that, following the first movie, these ‘bots are going through a bit of an update. Ransack is known to fans as first being an Insecticon and later a F4U Corsair. In the Revenge of the Fallen line, his robot mode appears to be a WWI-style biplane.

Ransack

Depthcharge is a throwback to the ‘Beast Wars’ era and originally transformed into a robot manta ray. This time around, his vehicle mode appears to be a boat.

Depthcharge

Throughout his history in Transformers, Sideswipe’s vehicle mode has always been that of a sports car. This is unchanged in Revenge of the Fallen, as he appears to be a concept Corvette.

Deluxe Sideswipe

You can find more unofficial images of these figures over at tformers.com!

Awesome Revenge of the Fallen Soundwave Custom

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies
This auction is for a customized Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, PRE-RELEASED Transformer "Decepticon: Soundwave."

Frenzy Rumble writes:

That's right. I got my hands and paint brushes on a "pre-release" Soundwave, one of the meanest Decepticons who will be in next summer's Blockbuster Film : Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. And lucky you, it's available now through this auction!

This deluxe sized figure stands approximately 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall. Due to the fact it is still too early to have any information on this character, It is believed that Soundwave is seen here in his "Cybertron" mode. There is articulation on the feet, ankles, knees, upper legs, hips, waist, torso, shoulders, upper arms, elbows, and the head is on a ball joint. The Satellite panels also sit on ball joints, giving maximum poseability to this awesome figure.

He is primed and prepared with the best available paints and primers. There are TEN different types and shades of silver on this figure. All paints used in the process were 100% enamel, so the finish is very durable, and the colors will stay vibrant and true for many many years. (Keep in mind, this is a collectible, so don't throw it around!) I finished him off with several finishes of Testor's clear coats, matte, semi-gloss, and gloss variations. This is a must-have and definite collectible for G1 and movie fans alike.

This is the perfect gift for the holidays!!! From what is know... this figure and any other Transformer 2 figures, will not be available or on United State's shelved until June of 2009!!! Be the first kid on the block...no, the town...no, the world to own your very own customized Soundwave!

Also, it is important to NOTE: this auction comes with what is rumored to be the "Ravage" missile, which is super rare.

First Look At Sideswipe From Transformers 2

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies

It looks like someone got a hold of packaging from for the Sideswipe figure of the upcoming Hasbro Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen toy line that will hit shelves later this year.

The picture is a pretty large scan and the first thing you’ll notice is how it’s cut out around the body of the figure so we can’t see the other details that are included on the back of the package.

It’s pretty shiny and slick in design compared to the complex designs featured in the Transformers movie. That being said, it’s just a toy so who knows how it will look on screen until we start seeing some footage from the film (hopefully in the Super Bowl trailer).

I think it looks good for a toy but I’ll wait to see the on-screen adaptation before making my judgment on the final design. From the toy picture it looks like he may have a melee of weapons attached to his arm, so that’s pretty cool if he uses those as such in the film. Optimus Prime had a built in sword to his arm in the first film but it went sadly underused.

The sexy silver vehicle mode of Sideswipe is that of the Chevy Corvette Centennial concept car. Take a look and see what you think:

Sideswipe from Transformers 2

You can click the image to see the higher res scan.

And here’s a set picture of several Autobots including the new Sideswipe, another new Autobot based on the 2010 Chevy Volt (named Volt?) as well as returning characters Ratchet and Iron Hide who were my two favorite transformers from the first movie.

Autobots from Revenge of the Fallen

Sideswipe is an Autobot (good guy) from the original Transformers Generation 1 animated series and while having taken several different vehicle forms over the years in the different series’, his original role was that of a red Lamborghini Countach and brother of Sunstreaker (a yellow Lamborghini Countach). I wonder if this means, his brother will make an appearance in the film as well?

What do you think of Sideswipe’s live-action design?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes out on June 26, 2009.

Enhanced Transformers 2 Teaser Poster Reveals... Sauron?

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies If you have yet to see the teaser poster for Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, you can do so by going here. While at first look the poster only supplies us with bright red eyes as part of some Decepticon face, a little enhancement shows much more.

Take That Michael Bay - McG Fires Back at Transformers!

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies

Last Friday, we published a quote from Michael Bay where he had made fun of "certain movies coming out" that were "trying to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads." Bay's quipped, "Please, come on." Obviously he was taking a shot at McG and his giant Terminators. Well, now it's McG's turn to fire back! The director recently moderated a special presentation in New York City of Terminator Salvation footage. He was asked about Bay's statement and what he thought of the Transformers comparison. We weren't in attendance, but Sara from Comcast was and has published McG's response for us to read.

"It bothers me to tell you the truth. Ultimately, our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots," McG said. "I say with respect, giant robots have been the theme of film for a real long time. So we want to do everything we can to create separation. Our film's about T-800s and the Marcus character and the Connor character, and this, that, and the other. So, to have people have a problem with that wouldn't be working for us so we want to make sure there's separation."

Not the kind of bold statement we were hoping to see, but then again, McG was surrounded by members of the press and he did his best to remain calm and collected. I'm not trying to start a war between these two, because that's completely unnecessary. As Sara asks: "Is this just a case of a few Hollywood boys fighting over their extremely explosive toys?" Probably, but that doesn't mean it's not fun to sit back and watch, right? We're obviously going to be judging these two movies in May and June (respectively) when they hit theaters anyway. Plus it's fun to rile up fans and give them something to fight for in the end.

Michael Bay Upset With McG's Giant Terminators

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies Is there anything more amusing than the bickering of film directors? Not on a slow news day such as this! Our friends over at Slashfilm have dug up a charming feud between Transformers' Michael Bay and Terminator: Salvation's McG. Naturally, it occurs over who has the biggest ... robot. Or rather, who came up with the concept of giant robots first.

Bay fired the first volley on his official website after the Transformers 2 teaser poster was unveiled. "Okay it's time to turn up the heat on Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen. We've waited low in the weeds letting all the summer movies get their stuff out. We've seen the great year end movies, and watched the upcoming clips of the upcoming summer fare. We've seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on. Well, I promise you we will rock your world with Transformers 2. The fans wanted ROBOTS KICKING ASS - well we got it. Today we are releasing the teaser poster and soon the onslaught will continue with a steady drum beat until June 26th."

What other giant robot movie could he mean? Why, Terminator: Salvation of course, and McG wasn't going to take that lying down. He fired back via Comcast's Movie Blog. "It bothers me to tell you the truth. Ultimately, our large robots have nothing to do with the Transformers robots. I say with respect, giant robots have been the theme of film for a real long time . So we want to do everything we can to create separation. Our film's about T-800s and the Marcus character and the Connor character, and this, that, and the other. So, to have people have a problem with that wouldn't be working for us so we want to make sure there's separation."
So, how shall the feud be settled? Comcast is leaning towards a fight between T-800s and Transformers, while Slashfilm is arguing for a boxing match a'la Uwe Boll vs the Critics ... because really, what's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

Transformers 2 Rumor Confirmed

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies January 14, 2009 - Tonight, IGN caught up with screenwriter Roberto Orci at FOX's party during the Television Critics Association press tour, where he was present to support his series Fringe, which he co-created with J.J. Abrams and Alex Kurtzman. Having written the first Transformers film, Orci and Kurtzman returned to work on this summer's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and Orci gave us a few more hints on what to expect, including confirmation on a rumor from last fall about a certain kind of Transformer making its debut in the new film. Those avoiding all SPOILERS on the film should look away now...

IGN: Last time we spoke, you revealed that Soundwave was in the movie and hinted at the possibility of Ravage, so I'm wondering if you can say anything more about what new characters will be in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Orci: So I said Ravage... maybe?

IGN: Pretty much, yeah.

Orci: [As if giving a big reveal] Ravage!

IGN: [Laughs] Damn, I should have told you that you said Ravage for sure!

Orci: Hmm… I'll give you an exclusive here. There is a Pretender. I'm going to get killed for saying that.

IGN: Well thank you for taking one just for us.

Orci: All for you.

IGN: Storywise, how does the sequel compare to the first one?

Orci: It's an extreme [jump] from the first one. The outrageous, crazy humor is more outrageous, but then so is the serious side of it and so is the stakes of the Transformers plot and the seriousness with which some of their mythology is treated. So it kind of swings wildly between those two extremes, and that I think was one of the successful parts of the first movie. Again, some of the die hard fans will be equally annoyed at some of the things they see, but I can also say they will be more gratified than they were for the first one, to see how some of the Transformers story and how their battle takes place in the second one.

IGN: There was a leaked image the other day of a Sideswipe toy. I don't even know if Sideswipe is in the movie, since the toys sometimes include extra characters, but the look of this toy was more like the original Transformers than the first film. On the design side, are the Transformers looking the same in this one, or are there some tweaks?

Orci: Well, you know, your favorites – Optimus and Bumblebee – look the same. Some of the new Transformers coming up, even the old Transformers that we had, have benefited from the fact that -- I actually heard this from ILM -- because they had all the rendering and the stuff from the first movie, they were able to get much more specific and articulate with their range of motion and emotions in the second movie, which has a bigger budget and it has all that research and development sunk into the original models. So there's going to be more articulation of the characters facially, so I'm looking forward to seeing that. I have not seen how far they've taken it.

Shia LaBeouf, the one-handed man

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies Gossip. Gasp! Shia LaBeouf has had to pull out of his latest film due to the hand injury he sustained in a car crash on July 27, according to E! online. The film, the technology-themed thriller “Dark Fields,” has already been delayed because of the star’s hand problems. “Shia’s hand is totally shattered; it’s much worse than anyone thought,” a source said.

LaBeouf (Photo: )

Evidently, LaBeouf was able to work around his injury while filming “Transformers 2,” but it seems he can’t continue to hide it.

But all is not lost for Mr. LaBeouf. Perhaps he could star with his old buddy Harrison Ford in “The Fugitive 2: The One-Armed Man Gets Replaced By A Two-Armed Man But This One Just Has A Bum Hand So It’s Kinda Similar But Not As Creepy.”

Transformers 2 Reshoots As It Prepares For First Glimpse

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies

Are Michael Bay's robots still rolling out across America? Reports are suggesting that Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen is undergoing reshoots even as its first teaser trailer is about to hit screens. Is the movie in trouble, or is there more than meets the eye?

The Transformers Live Action Movie Blog noted a report in the Antelope Valley Press that a crew for the movie were shooting as recently as the end of November in Edwards Air Force Base, despite Michael Bay's early November announcement that shooting had wrapped (although that announcement seemed to be contradicted within a week). They're not worried about the need for reshoots, however:

If a reshoot occurred, chances are its second unit work that didn't involve Bay or the principle cast and is simply being used to fill out shots that the editing process determined was needed.

I'm now imagining some poor extras running away from nothing, while a second unit director looks at his notes from Bay and yells "Now he's swiping at you! To your left! Scream!"

Meanwhile, speculation is growing about whether next week's release of The Day The Earth Stood Still will be accompanied by the first teaser trailer for the movie:

Considering that the trailer for Wolverine is debuting with TDTESS, it seems that there is an expectation that the movie will have a demographic that TF2 advertising would be aiming for. It’s also the last big budget popcorn movie of the year so last chance to get the most eyeballs aware that the sequel is coming before year end. After that, it seems to me that the next opportunity will not be until Watchmen in March.

If the trailer debuts with Keanu's next movie, expect it to be online Friday morning, even if it's only in shaky cam-phone version...

Transformers 2 Movie Decepticons Cast and Characters

Watch TV on PC - 12,000 TV Channels and Movies
  • Starscream, the air commander who flew into space at the end of the previous film. Orci confirmed he will have more dialogue. He transformed into an F-22 Raptor and was voiced by Charlie Adler. Mowry stated Starscream differs from his 1980s incarnation because "His motivations are more for the species. He's definitely at odds with what Prime and Megatron have been doing. He thinks that they’ve both been consumed with greed, for their own selfish reasons, but as he finds out, his plans start to fall through as he’s kind of becoming overwhelmed with the same greed that they had."
  • Soundwave, Megatron's most loyal lieutenant. He transforms into a Cybertronian satellite. The concept artists also designed an Earth form of a Chevrolet Silverado for him to upgrade into, which Orci stated was dropped. In the 1980s toyline, Soundwave was a tape deck. The filmmakers had tried to work him into the first film twice, and these roles eventually evolved into Blackout (a MH-53 Pave Low helicopter) and Frenzy (who changed into a CD Player and later into a mobile phone). The latter character was particularly thought to be too different from the original.
    • Ravage, a minion of Soundwave. Hasbro said he has a "raw" beast mode.
    • A puppet, with a body resembling Frenzy, a cat like face, dreadlocks, and a bird-like beak, was spotted on set.
  • The Constructicons, several construction vehicles who can combine into a single robot. This single robot was named Devastator in the 1980s toyline, but this name was mistakenly given to Brawl in the first film. The name Bonecrusher, who was one of the Constructicons in the 1980s and Transformers: Energon, was also used for a Decepticon killed in the first film. Orci stated during writing neither character will be resurrected though.
